• Top 10 PUAs of 2010

    by AlphaWolf & Co.

We here at PUA Lingo have been swamped for the past two weeks due to the release of our first product, Seduce With Style, handling all the orders coming in and dealing with all the other nitty gritty details that come with a product launch. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, grab it soon— the book is on sale 25% for the first two weeks, after which we will be raising the price.

Anyway, with all the excitement surrounding our new book, we haven’t forgotten that little survey we conducted in December, asking you guys to vote on who you thought were the top 10 PUAs of 2010. We received hundreds of submissions– some of them funny, some of them unexpected– of who you thought were the best PUAs of 2010.

We received way more the 10 entries, so here are the criteria we used to judge each PUA:

    1. Number of votes from readers
    2. Contribution to the community
    3. Pickup abilities
    4. Amount of activity in 2010

We’ve finally gotten around to compiling the names of the pick up artists that you sent in, tallied the scores and did the calculations. The results are below, and some of them may surprise you.

    Top 10 PUAs 2010

Without further ado, the Top 10 Pick Up Artists of 2010!

    The Video

    1) Mystery

As one of the main protagonists of The Game, and the host of his own reality TV show on VH1, it’s no surprise that Mystery received the most votes from readers as the top pick up artist of 2010.

Mystery hasn’t been resting on his laurels, either. With his reality TV show on hiatus, Mystery has been more active in the seduction community, coming out with his book The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction, that could be considered the spiritual sequel to The Game.

Here’s what one reader had to say about Mystery:

“There is no ‘why’. He is the BEST ever.”

    Hard to argue with that.

    2) AJ & Jordan Harbinger

AJ and Jordan Harbinger are the founders of the Pickup Podcast, one of the best free podcasts out there about pickup. If you’re not subscribed you should subscribe right now. Seriously. It packs more value than a lot of audio programs that other “gurus” charge hundreds of dollars for.

They haven’t been slouching in 2010, either. In addition to running the Pickup Podcast, their dating company the Art of Charm, and a radio show on Maxim Radio, they also launched a new book on text game, a new podcast called AJ and Jordan Talk Chicks, and are coming out with a new online study course called The Art of Charm Academy.

How do they manage it all? I’m not sure, but that’s why they’re rated two of the top PUAs of 2010.

One reader had this to say about AJ:

“He is a genius. I love listening to his radio show game on, and the art of charm is a wonderful website.”

I guess that solves it then. AJ Harbinger is a verified genius. No word yet on what Jordan brings to the table.

    3) Richard La Ruina (Gambler)

In 2010, Richard La Ruina, aka “Gambler” remained one of the top PUAs in Europe and the world.

His incredibly successful company, PUA Training, continues to attract some of the best dating coaches from around the world, and thousands of guys every year sign up for their bootcamps and workshops to learn from the master.

Richard also helps to maintain the PUA Training Blog, which is one of the most popular PUA blogs out there (besides ours, of course), where he regularly posts great, free content and videos for his readers.

    Says one reader:

“His clear and concise way of even teaching inside a book enabled me to pick up more hot chicks then ever before. It was simply awesome.”

    4) Nick Savoy

Nick Savoy is a name that’s been popping up a lot lately, with mentions on ABC’s Nightline, Fox News, Dr. Phil, and the Tyra Banks Show.

Nick Savoy received quite a few votes, and it’s no surprise why. Savoy is the founder of Love Systems (formerly the Mystery Method) which remains one of the largest and successful pickup companies out there, offering bootcamps and workshops all over the world.

The company has attracted some of the best dating coaches in the industry, with guys like Cajun, Captain Jack, Daxx, Fader, and Jeremy Soul, who are all top-class pickup artists in their own right.

With a successful teach method that’s proven to help guys improve their dating life and positive mentions in the media, Nick Savoy and Love Systems have contributed tremendously to the PUA community in 2010.

    5) Brad P

Brad P is one of those guys who’s always on one top 10 list or another, and this year is no different.

Brad P is one of the most successful PUAs out there, because he has a background in education, and knows how to teach his material in a way that makes dramatic and lasting changes in his students.

With programs like the 30/30 Club and the Pickup Mansion, it’s clear that Brad P understands that core, identity level changes take time, and don’t happen over a weekend.

    Writes one reader:

“Brad P is the best because he trained his student systematically and in a proven way”

Although his famous Fashion Bible has now been replaced by a superior product, we won’t hold that against him.

    6) Jon Sinn

Jon Sinn is one of the most outspoken pick up artists in the community, so it’s no surprise that he received a lot of votes this year. He was even ranked the top PUA in TSB Magazine’s top 10 PUA list.

Although Sinn doesn’t rank quite as highly on our list, we still recognize the amount of great, free content that he publishes on his blog, as well as all the interviews he does with others in the community (he even did an interview with us a few months ago).

    One reader says of Sinn:

“Sinn is the one who feels more honest from all PUAs , and got a very well balanced material, and his daygame material is pure gold. Which got copied by lots of other PUAs.”

While I question the writing level of whoever wrote that comment, you can get the general sentiment that some of our readers have for Sinn.

    7) Tyler Durden

Tyler Durden is one of those guys who has been around forever, and continues to be very active in the seduction community.

As one of the head coaches of Real Social Dynamics, Tyler travels around the country spreading the gospel of RSD and teaching guys the fundamentals of game.

We actually got to hang out with Tyler when he was up here in San Francisco, and from our own first hand experience, we can say that Tyler Durden has some solid game.

    Writes one reader:

“The guy is famous for the Blue Print which is beyond solid. Also, he’s another guy actually has infield footage to back up his claims.”

When it comes to game, plenty of “gurus” can talk the talk, but not as many can walk the walk, and fewer still can prove it. Tyler Durden falls into the latter category.

    8) Neil Strauss

Neil Strauss is one guy I wasn’t expecting to see on our list this year, since he hasn’t been too active in the community lately, although his company, The Stylelife Academy, continues to do well.

    One reader writes:

“his writing skill is exhilarating especially when i am reading his posts books and different tips and tricks that is available on the internet also as an afc he gave a light and a glimmer of hope in overcoming this stage and eventually becoming an MPUA”

I think it speaks to Neil’s writing skills that people are still finding out about the community from his book, The Game, more than 5 years after it was originally written. With the popularity of his latest book, Emergency, and a cameo appearance in Tim Ferris’ The Four Hour Body, I have a feeling that Neil will continue to influence the growth of the community for some time to come.

    9) Andy Yosha

Andy Yosha from PUA Training made quite a splash this year, when he and a handful of other coaches put together Daygame.com, which quickly grew to be one of the best sites out there for learning about day game.

The site features a blog, a podcast with top dating gurus, videos, infield-footage, interviews, and more, all for free and accessible at your fingertips.

You can see for yourself from the footage that Andy and his team know what they’re talking about when it comes to day game and pickup, and it’s great to have all that great information available in one spot.

There are countless PUA websites out there these days that offer advice on pickup, but Andy Yosha and his site Daygame.com stand out for the thought and effort that went into creating one of the best pickup resources on the web.

    10) DJ Fuji

There are a growing number of Asian PUAs in the community, and DJ Fuji is one of the best of them. Formerly an instructor for Mehow, DJ Fuji broke off to start his own business and coaching program, and he offers personalized, long-term coaching to help guys make lasting results in their dating lives.

As a PUA of Asian descent, DJ Fuji offers a unique perspective when it comes to dating and pickup, especially since Asian guys tend to be de-sexualized in Western culture.

Besides his experiences as an Asian American, DJ Fuji is one of the most clear spoken and practical PUAs out there. He really knows how to break down difficult problems and challenges, and come up with simple and actionable solutions.

One reader says of DJ Fuji, simply:

That about sums up DJ Fuji’s coaching style.

    Honorable Mention: Anthony Johnson

Although he didn’t get any votes, this year, we wanted to recognized Anthony Johnson for his contributions to the community.

Anthony Johnson is one of the most accomplished 22 year olds out there. If you don’t know his story, at the age of 18, Anthony started The 21 Convention, a pick up artist convention for those under 21 years old, because the rest of the community had basically ignored this demographic.

The convention has since opened to people above 21, and has grown to be one of the most successful conventions in the world, not just for pickup, but for overall personal development. There are now conventions held in both North America and Europe, and ticket prices remain reasonable, and many of the videos of the convention are released online for free!

Anthony is not a big fan of top 10 PUA lists, and last year he even wrote a big rant about why top 10 lists are “nonsense”, but we figured we would recognize him anyway, for his contributions to the seduction community.

And that wraps it up for our list of Top 10 PUAs for 2010! Thanks for following along this far, and thanks to everyone who voted on their favorite PUAs. I leave you with this list of random user submissions that we found amusing:

    • Don’t Know…They’re pretty much all good.
    • Style aka Neil Strauss. Too much marketing, not enough focus on students and game
    • David DeAngelo. I still get his newsletter and there is nothing new in it. He just steals other peoples material but presents it in a professional way. I don’t think this guy could pick up a 6 in real life. Bad body language, no persona, no charisma. He’s a Fraud!
    • Thundercat. His method not work at all at my Place!! (Brunei)
    • Probably Thundercat. This guy is fat and bangs hookers (according to Sinn). I hate him.
    • Dr Paul… he’s lame. At least he makes me laugh.
    • Tyler Durden. He’s just a creepy motherfucker.
    • Me. Because i am not like them.
    • President Obama–too much shucking, jiving, and con. He needs to man up and take responsibility!
    • Anyone of the PUA’s who have been on that stupid TV show when they were trying to pick up that bitchy news anchor, it was pathatic!!!

If we missed anyone that you think should have been on the list, please post in the comments!

    Alan Roger Currie February 7, 2011 - 12:14 pm

I don’t see any “direct approach” Dating Coaches, Authors or Gurus on this list.

Then again … there are only about 3 or 4 in the world that teach a truly “direct,” balls-out approach. (Myself, David X, maybe one or two others)

I’ve met #2 (A.J. & Jordan Harbinger) and #9 (Andy Yosha) in person, and I am familiar with all ten except for #5, #6, #10 and your “Honorable Mention” guy.

I don’t consider myself a “pick-up artist,” so I am not too insulted not to be on this list….
