Quick Definition: To persist in the face of resistance. (Sometimes spelled “ploughing.”)
*PUA Lingo does not endorse or support the use of these terms. We strive to describe them the best we can based on the seduction community’s uses for them in improving men’s (and some women’s) dating lives.
Plowing is the idea of continuing to push through with a pickup, even if it doesn’t appear to be going well. Plowing is an important skill for PUAs to master because pick up attempts do not always go smoothly. Sometimes, the woman will be totally into the PUA and throwing IOIs left and right, but, more often than not, women who are being hit on will put up some initial resistance. Being able to plow through this resistance often marks the difference between a successful pickup and a failed one.
Plowing, at the heart of it, comes down to maintaining a strong frame and the ability to stand up to social pressure. By keeping a strong frame, the PUA can overcome any shit tests or objections that a woman might throw at him, turning the situation to his favor.
Even if a set is going terribly, it can still be valuable for a PUA to continue plowing because he can learn from the experience. The more adverse experiences the PUA finds himself in, the more experience he gains in turning a bad situation into a good one. By persisting in an uncomfortable situation, the PUA is develops a thicker skin and learns how to stand up to social pressure.
In general, new PUAs tend to eject from sets way too early. A good rule for PUAs to follow is to continue to stay in set until the woman either excuses herself or until she tells him explicitly to go away.
That newbie sure has balls, he’s ploughing this set for all its worth.
