A collection is a presentation of fashions that revolve around a central theme or concept. High fashion, particularly couture houses and upscale designers host fashion shows where models present their collections. Collections are usually presented twice a year based upon the season, i.e. Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. Collections are typically presented during a city’s Fashion Week. For instance, New York City’s Fashion Week is held semi-annually in February and September.
When dressing up, a man may have a certain type of style that reflects his personal collection of clothes. Think Chuck Bass from Gossip girls.
On the runway, collections differ in style but carry a common theme or thread that expresses a certain idea. In the pictures below, the collection is best suited for light weather (spring time) and uses colors to express subtle identities of each model.
