Cashmere (also spelled Kashmir) is a type of wool taken from Cashmere goats and other types of goats.
The fiber (also known as “pashm”, which is Persian for “wool”) is well known throughout the world for its fine texture, lightness, and softness. Cashmere also provides excellent insulation, which makes it perfect for winter wear.
Cashmere is also one of the more expensive fabrics out there, so wearing it can communicate eliteness and access to resources. The comfort and sheer luxury of cashmere generally makes it worth the price.
Because of its warmth, cashmere is often found in winter pieces such as sweaters, scarves, gloves, and cardigans. The expensive price of cashmere makes it more fitted for an elite, preppy look, though cashmere pieces can work in other outfits as well.
