Social Connector
| Knowledge Sphere: | Love Systems |
Quick Definition: AKA “Connector”. A person that possesses a wide network of social connections, friends and resources.
Full Definition:
This term was pioneered by Love Systems and was originally influenced by Malcolm Gladwell’s book “The Tipping Point”. In the book, Gladwell describes the “The Law of the Few”, which entails that “the success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts…in any situation roughly 80 percent of the ‘work’ will be done by 20 percent of the participants.”
In PUA theory, a social connector is someone who has cast a wide social net. He or she has access and connections to many different social groups. We call these groups “trees” and jumping from one tree to another usually requires befriending a social connector, or someone high up in the tree. Social trees are generally bottom heavy and go top down. Social connectors, in general, share the following traits:
- Naturally charismatic
- An ability to befriend people with ease
- Has strong vibe control
- Understands what is valuable to other people
- Has confidence in himself/herself
- Generally take the initiative in setting up events / plans
