Poster Boy
Quick Definition: The iconic personification of a brand, identity or idea embodied into an individual. Thus, the “poster” for that particular person.
Full Definition:
The poster boy is the American term for an individual’s success in a particular arena. Much like Captain America was the poster boy for the war, and the high school jock who scored the final touchdown to win the game represents the school. Over time, men of leadership status become recognized for their talent and success. Examples of poster boys abound, and it is important to recognize success and give credit where it is due (warm alpha instead of jealousy behavior).
This term is usually used as a compliment, although the idea can be applied to a negative concept too, such as: Chris is a poster boy for the chess club. A positive association would be Tom Brady = Good Looking Jock / American Football.
Ari Gold = Hollywood Success. Hollywood asshole agent
Richard Simmons = Ambiguously Gay Men
Steve Stifler = American Frat Asshole that gets tons of cheerleader ass
Usage:
He’s the poster boy for this fantastic place.
