A person, or an entity that tries to prevent a PUA from progressing with his target.
Full Definition:
An obstacle usually refers to a person that is preventing the PUA from closing hid target. This can be the BF, a CB, a AMOG/AFOG, or another PUA trying to pickup the same girl at the same time. It is important to identify obstacles correctly (they could be allies!) and early on and decide on a game plan to either diffuse them, or blow them out.
Sometimes, obstacles can be entities. For example, a moving target/set is by nature an obstacle, as objects in motion tend to stay in motion, and the PUA must break their pattern of movement to stop and start a conversation with a stranger.
Usage:
I had to take care of the obstacle before I could isolate the girl.
