Quick Definition

A Japanese term for a form of pickup that is done by young males (usually in their 20’s) on the streets of Japan.

Full Definition

The literal translation of Nanpa in Kanji is “the soft school”. This references deals with the essence of seduction, of having a soft touch and handling influence of sexual dominance using pickup. In Japan, young men stand on street corners and try to talk to and “pickup” passing women for a phone number or an insta-date.

It is unclear if the guys who practice Nanpa have calibration and real PU skills as their American and European counterparts. However, given their audacity in an otherwise conservative Japanese culture, their techniques may work.
