Isolation

Quick Definition: The act of separating a target from the rest of the set in order to escalate the interaction.

Full Definition:

Isolation is a technique that can be useful during a pickup for escalating an interaction with the target. Women will feel a lot of social pressure when in the presence of her friends, so separating her from the group can make her more open to physical escalation, such as kissing. Isolation also builds a certain degree of comfort, since by following the PUA, the woman is implicitly communicating that she trusts him enough to be alone with him.

Isolation is not always necessary, as long as an artist can manage the group well enough to get a number close, at which point he can continue the interaction later. Isolation also does not necessarily have to be physical either. The PUA can simply close off his body language to the rest of the group, and create a private conversation between him and the target. In such cases it helps to have a wing who can keep the rest of the group entertained, and disarm any AMOGs.
