Isolation is a technique that can be useful during a pickup for escalating an interaction with the target. Isolation is not always necessary, as long as an artist can manage the group well enough to get a number close, at which point he can continue the interaction later. Isolation also does not necessarily have to be physical either. The PUA can simply close off his body language to the rest of the group, and create a private conversation between him and the target. In such cases it helps to have a wing who can keep the rest of the group entertained, and disarm any AMOGs.
