Full Definition:
Developed by Style, the FTC helps to keep sets from getting annoyed by the presence of a new stranger. Whenever people meet someone who they don’t know, they feel a certain amount of concern about how much time that person is going to take up.
FTCs have the subtle effect of preemptively dissuading such feelings and also making the presence of the PUA more valued, as he may leave at any minute, which creates a feeling of scarcity. FTCs allow the PUA enough time to reach the hook point, at which point the group or target will try to get the PUA to stay.
A common FTC:
“I have to get back to my friends real quick, so I only have a minute, but I wanted to ask your guys’ opinion on something…”
Usage:
Using an FTC helped my set feel more comfortable and kept me from getting blown out.
