This is probably one of my favorite, more enlightened reads of all time, next to The Game and the 48 Laws of Power.
Eckhart Tolle brought inner peace and being present to the mass market. He captured the principles in a very simple, easy to understand form, that you can relate to and apply in your life. That is why this book has stood apart from the many books on spirituality, meditation, self actualization and so on that cover similar material - this one is easy to implement. Tolle describes how he separated from his ego, you know, that annoying voice that tells you you are not good enough, or urges you to spend too much money on something to appear rich. Everyone has that voice and controlling or quietening it is the basis of inner game.
Unlike other “spiritual leaders”, his message is clear, and full of easy to understand phrases. He doesn’t believe in over-complicating lingo (hm… maybe we’re guilty of that here) and he speaks with a detachment to his own ego. This is hard to explain but you may understand if you read the passages in his book.
The first part of the book is phrased in a way for you to recognize your own ego, without the ego creating an antagonistic response to its own denial or destruction. Tolle shows how ridiculous some of the mental pain and anguish we harbor is. If you’ve ever seen his Youtube videos he chuckles softly to himself, for a bit longer than normal, which would be off putting in a dating setting. But he’s not offering dating advice, he’s offering enlightenment and you have to make the connection to use what he’s offering in a mature and inviting way when attracting and interacting with women.
His Authors@Google talk illustrates a great chasm between the busy Google workers (even the VP) and Tolle’s perspective on life:
Many dating instructors, including Owen Cook, have read and recommend this book to others. It helps to make attracting women a more natural part of life, to take the effort out of it. It may take a while to sink in but you can use his principles to get there, day by day, to the state of inner calm and bliss.
This is a MUST read. Even throwing the title of the book or the author’s name around in conversation could be a talking point with women. When Oprah recommends a book, most women will know of it – mention Meg Ryan loved it and Cher said it changed her life. Perhaps get a foundation understanding of dating skills first, in particular how inner game relates to the dating skillset so that you can integrate it into your inner game skillset. For guys who already have some dating success, such as attraction and approaching, and have a basic understanding of inner game, this is the ideal product to take your inner game and dating skills to the next level. More importantly, it will help you be happier with your own life. “Happiness is the default state”, as the Dalai Lama would say.
