Internet Jargon

A lot of discussion about the seduction community takes place online, which means that not only do you have to know PUA jargon to figure out what everyone is talking about, but general Internet terminology as well.

Here’s a quick primer in case you’re rusty on Internet acronyms, or aren’t sure whether a term is PUA specific or not:

• AFAIK – As Far As I Know.
• AFK – Away From Keyboard. Used to indicate that someone is going to be away from the computer for a bit.
• ASL – Age/Sex/Location. A common way of abbreviating personal information on dating sites.
• BOFH – Bastard Operator From Hell. A bitter or ill-tempered system admin or computer operator.
• BTW – By The Way.
• FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions.
• FB – Facebook. A popular social networking site.
• FOB – Fresh Off the Boat. Someone who’s just arrived in the country (usually refers to foreigners in America or first generation immigrants)
• FYI – For Your Information.
• HPV – Human Papiloma Virus. A common STD (sexually transmitted disease) that often has no symptoms, but is believed to increase the chances of cancer.
• IANAL – I Am Not A Lawyer. Common disclaimer given before dispensing legal advice.
• IMHO – In My Humble Opinion.
• IRL – In Real Life.
• JK – Just Kidding.
• LMAO – Laugh My Ass Off.
• LOL – Laugh Out Loud. Used to indicate laughter.
• MYOB – Mind Your Own Business.
• OIC – Oh, I See.
• OTOH – On The Other Hand.
• OTW – On The Way.
• PDA – Personal Digital Assitant. A handheld electronic device that can store your contacts, like a BlackBerry or an iPhone.
• ROFL – Roll On Floor Laughing. Funnier than LOL.
• RTFM – Read the F***ing Manual. In the seduction community, sometimes a playful reference to Fast Seduction.
• SOL – S*** Out of Luck.
• TANSTAAFL – There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
• TTYL – Talk To You Later.
• WRT – With Regards To.
• WTF – What The F***?
